Tonight’s the night. The eighth and final season of everyone’s favourite fantasy series is airing its finale tonight, which truly marks the end of an era. After tonight, Game Of Thrones will officially be done.
Fans are emotional enough at the prospect, but to say that this season has been heartbreaking would be an understatement. In fact, many have signed a petition to have the eighth season remade! But we here at Fiction’s Mistress have loved every second of the final season, even its most tear-jerking moments. That’s what makes the show stand apart. It’s bold, unapologetic, and refuses to think inside the box. But with the finale only a few hours away, fans are wondering where it’ll leave our favourite characters. Daenerys has gone from the Queen everyone wanted to see rule, to the Queen who killed even more people than Cersei Lannister. Jon and Tyrion have realized their grave mistakes, and as for Sansa? Well, we didn’t see her in Episode 5, but she’s probably back in Winterfell, waiting for news from Jon. The letter that will undoubtedly admit that all along, she was right.
But according to a recent interview with Sophie Turner, the actress who plays the eldest Stark sister, people may not be happy with how her arc ends! In an interview with The Sunday Times, Turner had this to say about Sansa’s fate.
“It’s a great ending, from my perspective, it’s very satisfying. But I think a lot of people will be upset too.”-Sophie Turner
The fact that Turner herself was satisfied by her character’s ending makes us a little less worried. After all, no one knows the character as well as she does. If she’s satisfied, we’re sure we will be, too. But we have no doubt that many fans will be outraged, if reactions to this season so far provide any indication. But as for us? We love all of the shocking twists. It’s what makes this series so breathtaking. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
