The most anticipated film of the year, Avengers: Endgame is finally in theaters, and it is shattering records faster than anyone could have predicted!
The sequel to Infinity War, Endgame picks up right where the third Avengers film left off. Our heroes are scattered, heartbroken. Thanos won, wiping out half of the population and half of Earth’s mightiest heroes. Endgame is their last chance to get everyone back, so there’s no question as to why there’s so much hype surrounding the film. And it’s been breaking records even before the film hit theaters, with opening night and weekend tickets selling out the day they were released! And Endgame has only continued to shatter records since then.
As of Monday, the film has officially been in theaters for five days, and it has already surpassed the $1 billion mark!! It has grossed over $1.2 billion globally, and domestically it’s earned approximately $350 million, breaking records both across the world and North America! In North America, it has played in a jaw-dropping number of 4,662 theaters, earning, on average, more than $76,000 per theater!
Endgame earned a whopping $60 million on its opening night last Thursday, breaking the record previously set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which had earned $57 million. The records that the fourth Avengers film has already broken goes on and on!
Avengers: Endgame is the first film in history to gross over $1 billion in its opening weekend alone, and if this is any indication, it could be the first film to hit the $3 billion mark. This is, without question, the biggest film of the year. You don’t want to miss it.
