Trailer Watch: ‘The Lion King’ Trailer Will Give You Goosebumps

The effects in this film are STUNNING.

The first full look at Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King is here, and it is nothing short of breathtaking. Of course, we use the term live-action loosely. Technically, it’s all effects. But they are truly a sight to behold. Directed by Jon Favreau, the same man who directed The Jungle Book (2016), The Lion King promises such incredible details that you’ll forget these animals aren’t real.

There’s a lot going on in this trailer. We get a glimpse at both the young and adult versions of Simba and Nala, and we finally see Scar and the hyenas for the first time! And it’s certainly not what people were expecting. Scar looks virtually nothing like he did in the cartoon, but quite frankly, lions don’t look like Scar in reality. They’ve adapted his look to be more realistic, and while some fans are not happy, we’re honestly okay with it! He’s still on the scrawnier side, as Scar was in the original, and he looks haggard. We can get behind this new Scar.

While Simba, played by Donald Glover, and Nala, played by Beyoncé, don’t sing or speak in this trailer, we do get a good look at both of them, and at some iconic scenes. We get a small glimpse at Simba growing up with Timon and Pumbaa. And yes, we get a look at the scene that still haunts all of us. The scene that was far too cruel for a Disney film. And we have a feeling we’re going to cry even more this time around.

There’s a lot to be excited about in this trailer, and we cannot wait until the film debuts!
