This is both a year of excitement and of mourning for all fans of HBO’s hit fantasy series, Game Of Thrones. 2019 marks the eighth and final season of everyone’s favourite fantasy show, and it won’t be easy to say goodbye to. Knowing that many of our beloved characters are destined to die only makes the parting more difficult, but we have some good news. You may not have to wait long to return to Westeros.
HBO has announced that many prequels to the series are in the works, each taking place in different historic periods of the fantasy world. And one in particular seems to be moving ahead at a fast pace. That’s right! One of the prequels is set to start production as early as this summer!
While very little is known about the plot, we couldn’t be more excited about the cast. Starring Naomi Watts, Jamie Campbell Bower, Georgie Henley, Toby Regbo, and Alex Sharp just to name a few, this cast is star-studded, to say the least. And many of them have experience in a fantasy/fantasy-like genre, which is even more exciting! Oh, and did we mention? The pilot will be directed by SJ Clarkson, who has directed episodes of major shows such as Bates Motel, Orange Is The New Black, Jessica Jones, and The Defenders! With production starting so soon, we wonder if we could get the pilot episode as early as 2020! Let us all pray to the Old Gods and the New for that.
The Final Season Of Game Of Thrones Airs April 14th On HBO.
