On Sunday night, Black Panther took home the award for Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, and honestly, they deserved it. This film is not over-hyped. It features an amazing cast playing amazing characters, a wonderfully written and portrayed villain, and the music, costumes, and sets are nothing short of magical. And the stunts were apparently just as intense off-screen!
We here at Fiction’s Mistress cannot give this film enough praise. It made major strides not only for diversity in film, but it also managed to achieve what no other superhero movie ever has: a nomination for Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
If you missed the film the first time it hit theaters and are wondering what the hype is all about, or perhaps you wish you could see it again on the big screen, you’re in luck! For one week starting this Friday, Black Panther will hit theaters once more. Not only that, but in honor of Black History Month, in select AMC theaters, the film will be completely free to go and watch. How amazing is that!? Bob Iger, Disney CEO had this to say about the decision:
– Bob Iger, Disney CEO
“Black Panther is groundbreaking for many reasons, including the rich diversity of voices behind its success. The story also showcases the power of knowledge to change the world for the better, and the importance of ensuring everyone has access to it. We’re proud to provide thousands of free screenings of Black Panther in hopes it will continue to inspire audiences.”
We love it. We urge any of you who missed the film in theaters to go see it this weekend. It really is a work of art.
Black Panther Returns To Select Theaters This Friday. It Is Also Streaming On Netflix.
