The trailer for the highly anticipated Sundance film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile dropped this weekend, and it’s safe to say it’s raising some controversy. The movie is about serial killer Ted Bundy, but told from the perspective of his girlfriend of several years, Liz Kendall. This is a very true story, and Liz Kendall (whose real name is actually Elizabeth Kloepfer) dated Bundy for 7 years, even after attempting to turn him in. This is what the film focuses on, which is a new take on the serial killer that everyone knows. But not everyone is happy about it.
Some feel that the movie is focusing too much on the romance, making light of Bundy’s truly horrific actions. But the reviews for the film that are pouring in by the hour say that the film does anything but. It is told from Liz’s perspective, showing both the undeniably evil and charming aspects of his personality. Part of what makes him so evil is his charm, and we believe that’s what the movie wants to portray.
The cast is packed with stars, with Zac Efron playing Ted Bundy, Lily Collins playing Liz Kendall, Angela Sarafyan playing Liz’s best friend, and Jim Parsons playing a Florida Prosecutor. This cast alone is enough to have us incredibly excited! And while the film’s trailer may be stirring some controversy, we have total faith in it. This is a story we’ve heard before from a new perspective. In many ways, it’s about Liz more than it is about Bundy. And that’s something we have to keep in mind going into it. We think it looks amazing and cannot wait to see how it turns out!
