The third season of Netflix’s hit period drama, The Crown, has seen many cast changes and additions, both in and out of the Royal family. This comes as no surprise, as the series has been very forthcoming since the beginning about switching actors as needed to match the age of our key characters. And joining Olivia Colman, Tobias Menzies, and Helena Bonham Carter in The Crown is none other than the iconic Gillian Anderson.
Gillian Anderson, should she sign the contract, will be playing Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, but as of right now, it’s unclear whether she’ll be joining the cast in Season 3 or only appearing in the fourth season. While this casting news isn’t quite official, apparently the actress has been in talks with the series since April! Whether the current show that she stars in on the streaming platform, titled Sex Education, has anything to do her hesitancy, we don’t know. But hopefully they come to a deal soon, because we have no doubt that Anderson could bring so much to this role!
Confirmed to be starring in the third season of The Crown is Olivia Colman, who is taking over for Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II, Tobias Menzies, who replaces Matt Smith as Prince Philip, and Helena Bonham Carter, who is replacing Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret. While we hate to see the former cast leave, we have complete faith in the new stars! We can’t wait to see what they bring to their roles.
Season 3 Of The Crown Will Air In 2019.
