2019 is a major year for Marvel. Captain Marvel is set to hit theaters March 8th, with the highly anticipated/dreaded fourth Avengers film, Endgame, due to hit theaters approximately a month later. And only a few short months after that, we’re finally getting a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. And Spider-Man: Far From Home takes Peter exactly where you imagine. Far from home.
Let’s start with the obvious. Yes, this film takes place after Avengers: Infinity War. And as Peter is both back on Earth and, to put it bluntly, not a pile of ashes, it clearly takes place after Avengers: Endgame as well. Marvel still hasn’t confirmed how that will happen, obviously, but there are definitely some prevalent theories out there. What this teaser trailer does confirm, however, is the return of not only Peter, but of Nick Fury, as well, who also was a victim of Thanos’ snap. But one notable and worrying absence from the trailer is the one and only Tony Stark. Coincidence or tragedy? Only time will tell.
But, for now, back to the teaser. Spider-Man is back to his friendly neighborhood self, attending multiple charity events with Aunt May proudly by his side, and, of course, Happy right along with them. And it seems Happy and May might have a bit of a thing going on between them! As for Peter, he’s ready to put the suit down for a couple months while on a school trip to Europe. And yes, MJ will be there, the two of them growing closer and starting their long-awaited romance! But things aren’t going to be as chill as Peter was hoping, as he discovers when he finds Nick Fury waiting for him in his hotel room.
Fury needs Spider-Man’s help to defeat a new villain, Mysterio, played by Jake Gyllenhaal. Not much has been revealed about the villain, but that’s sure to come in the official trailer, rather than the teaser. But this glimpse has us more excited than ever! We can’t wait!
