Margot Robbie To Star In And Produce Live-Action Barbie Movie

If anyone can bring a fresh perspective to the iconic Barbie, it's Margot Robbie!

If you were hesitant when you saw the title of this article, don’t worry. We were skeptical when we first heard the news, too. Though many of us grew up with Barbie, and she can still be found in stores, the concept almost seems a little…outdated. Our society is ever changing, constantly evolving. And especially regarding body image, our idea of the ‘perfect body’ is rapidly changing. In fact, our society is finally moving away from the concept of a ‘perfect body’ completely, accepting all body types. Look how you want, wear what you want, love the skin you’re in. Doesn’t Barbie kind of stand in contradiction in that?

Done wrong, yes. Absolutely. But with the fantastic Margot Robbie at the helm? This could be a very different story.

Robbie is not only starring as the title character, she is also producing the film through her very own production company, LuckyChap Entertainment! And she promises to bring the character and story to life in a positive way.

“I’m so honoured to take on this role that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children.”

-Margot Robbie

No news on what exactly the story will be, or even what other characters will be involved. But with Margot Robbie taking charge, we can’t help but be curious. And, honestly, even a little hopeful.
