With less than 6 months to go until the return of everyone’s favourite fantasy show, stars of HBO’s Game Of Thrones are coming forward with as much of a glimpse into the eighth and final season as they can give us. And while there aren’t a ton of details, pretty much everyone can agree that it’s going to be emotional. The Mother of Dragons herself, Emilia Clarke, has said that ‘everything feels more intense‘ this season, while Kit Harington, AKA Jon Snow, admitted that reading the final scripts made him cry! And apparently, there’s more.
Gwendoline Christie was recently asked on the red carpet if she could tell us anything about the final season, set to premiere in April. And what she said didn’t exactly calm our nerves.
– Gwendoline Christie
“You’re going to need therapy. I think just the show ending is going to send all of the world into professional help … I think it’s going to make me incredibly emotional. We’re all emotional about the fact that this is the end, and this is the end of something incredibly significant for all of us, and it’s been a truly incredible thing to be a part of.”
This isn’t exactly comforting, but nor is it surprising. Game Of Thrones is renowned for killing off some of the most beloved characters, and with the White Walkers finally in Westeros, we know at least a few more will pass before the final episode. But hopefully Christie’s character, Brienne, will not be one of the slain. Or if she is, she will be reunited with Jaime Lannister one last time. Both are heading up North to face the Walkers, after all, so it could happen!
