Trailer Watch: Carol Danvers Is Here To End The War In The Epic New ‘Captain Marvel’ Trailer

She's so powerful we want to cry.

Captain Marvel is a game-changer, in so many ways. Firstly, she is the first female superhero to have her own film in the MCU. The closest we’ve ever gotten is earlier this year, when Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp co-led Ant-Man And The Wasp. This is major. But the second reason Carol Danvers is such a game changer is because she is not only powerful, but she is powerful enough to take on Thanos. And we know she’s appearing in the fourth Avengers film. Fury did call for her, after all. He knew her, once. And this is what this film is all about.

The new trailer for the highly anticipated Captain Marvel dropped Monday night, and if you got goosebumps, don’t worry. You’re not alone. We’d be lying if we said we didn’t tear up. The trailer is packed with some truly epic battles, almost all of them featuring Danvers on her own, literally glowing and even in space! We also get to learn a little more about her past. We know Carol was once human, but after some sort of freak accident, was taken in by a race called the Kree, who are, as Carol says, “noble warrior heroes”. Not only taken in, Carol was transformed into one of the Kree, as she had no memory of her past. But upon returning to Earth, stronger than ever, she begins to get flashes of her human life, where she was a pilot. This woman was always a bad-ass, there’s no doubt about it.

The trailer also debuts some incredible new costumes for Danvers alone, who will have multiple looks in the film, each as jaw-dropping as the last. We see more of Jude Law’s mysterious character, Mar-Vell, along with more of young Nick Fury, who has a soft spot for cats, apparently! But the most memorable, tear-jerking, empowering moment of the trailer is when Carol says two simple sentences.

“I’m not gonna fight your war. I’m gonna end it. “
