Trailer Watch: BBC One Debuts Their First Trailer For A Non-Musical Les Misérables

This will be a massive contrast to the 2012 film.

When we think of Les Misérables, most of us think of the 2012 film. Dramatic, tear-jerking, and a star studded cast to boot. But while the film was undeniably critically successful, and beloved by many audiences, some just couldn’t get into it. Why? Because there’s barely a line of dialogue. Which means if you’re not a musical person, you may feel you’re not a Les Mis person. But that’s about to change with BBC’s upcoming 6 part series, an adaptation of Victor Hugo’s novel of the same name. And like the novel, it will be a historical, emotional drama, without musical numbers.

BBC’s Les Misérables features a truly fantastic cast, with Dominic West as Jean Valjean, David Oyelowo as Javert, Lily Collins as Fantine, Olivia Colman as Madame Thénardier, and more. And it looks to be just as emotional as the 2012 film. We can’t wait.
