We’re only a couple of months away from the new year, and you know what that means. We’ve almost done it. We’re so close to going an entire calendar year without a new season of Game of Thrones. And it’s been even harder than we thought. But with each passing day, we get closer and closer to seeing the final season of HBO’s hit fantasy show, and nothing says that more than Entertainment Weekly’s exciting new cover. Thrones fans, prepare yourselves.
Early Thursday morning, EW released this image for the world to see, our first glimpse of the King in the North and the Mother of Dragons in the eighth and final season of our favourite fantasy show. And it is truly glorious. The two rulers stand side by side proudly and fiercely, teasing that the two probably still have no knowledge of their relation, at least for now. Yes, we know it’s wrong, and yes, we still ship it anyway.
The eighth season promises to be the biggest. This is what we’ve been ramping up to, after all. We’re looking at the final battles against the White Walkers. Who will sit on the Iron Throne? Who will die? And who is the Prince or Princess That Was Promised? So many questions to be answered, so many theories, and all of this was taken under consideration while shooting. The Mother of Dragons herself promises that they’re pulling out all the stops for this last season.
“Checks take longer, costumes are a bit better, hair and makeup a bit sharper — every choice, every conversation, every attitude, has this air of ‘this is it’. Everything feels more intense.”
This season can’t get here fast enough.
