Captain Marvel Marvel Movies Trailer Watch

Trailer Watch: The First ‘Captain Marvel’ Trailer Is Here And Yes, We’re Already Crying

Captain Marvel is the first female superhero to lead her own movie in the MCU...and it's about damn time!

To say that this is an historic moment for the superhero genre is not an understatement. This genre, while quite fantastic in many ways, is known for being dominated by men. I mean, just take a look at the MCU. It wasn’t until earlier this year that a female superhero co-led a film. But in 2019, we’re getting our very first lead heroine. Her name? Captain Marvel.

For those of you who don’t know, Captain Marvel, also known as Carol Danvers, is without question one of the most powerful superheroes out there. Not only does she possess a superhuman strength, she also has the ability to manipulate and absorb energy. She is a Kree/human hybrid, but as we see in the trailer, things aren’t as simple as they seem. She has brief flashes, memories from a different life on Earth as a child.

It’s also worth pointing out that even before becoming a superhero, Carol was a certified bad-ass. I mean, she was an Air Force Pilot!

The film also features some familiar faces, such as a young Nick Fury (two eyes and all) and a young Phil Coulson! Jude Law makes his debut as Mar-Vell, who acts as a mentor of sorts to Carol, and looks more than a little intriguing. But by far the most exciting thing about this trailer is Captain Marvel herself, played by the incomparable Brie Larson. In case you still have doubts about her, just go watch Room. Seriously. This woman is a true talent, and it’s inarguable that she can carry the weight of this film and of this role.

The first trailer alone promises to avoid all-too-common, poorly-written female character tropes. This woman is powerful, yes, but she is more than her power. And we will get to know her as a person, not just as a superhero. This may be one of the best MCU films yet.

Watch the first action-packed trailer for Captain Marvel now.

Captain Marvel Hits Theaters March 8th, 2019.
