Time To Freak Out: The ‘Wonder Woman’ Sequel’s Release Date Just Got Bumped

This highly anticipated sequel will no longer go head to head with Star Wars.

Calling all Wonder Woman fans! We’re officially getting the sequel to this amazing film over a month earlier than we thought!

Wonder Woman 2 was originally set to release on December 13th, 2019, but has now been bumped to November 1st, 2019. You won’t hear any of us complaining about getting the already anticipated sequel a whole six weeks earlier! But why did it get bumped? Some speculate that it all has to do with Star Wars.

A couple of months ago, Disney announced that Star Wars: Episode IX would hit theaters December 20th, 2019, only a week after Wonder Woman‘s original release date. And though DC’s latest absolutely slayed the box office, competing with Star Wars in the sequel’s second week is ambitious, to say the least. While both franchises are incredible, Wonder Woman is just getting started. And people are only just starting to trust DC again. The competition would’ve been fierce, to be sure, but with this new release date, everyone wins.

The news, while fantastic, is also confusing for fans. After all, it was only in the past few days that a story went viral claiming that Gal Gadot was refusing to return for Wonder Woman 2 as long as Brett Ratner was involved. Ratner is one of the many in Hollywood currently facing multiple sexual harassment allegations. Many praised Gadot for her actions, but Warner Brothers recently released a statement claiming the story is false, and Gadot herself has yet to comment either way.

Whether the story is true or not, we know two things for certain. Wonder Woman 2 will be released November 1st, 2019. And there’s no way that DC will cast anyone other than Gal Gadot as Diana Prince.
