On Wednesday night, Beyoncé shared a photo on her Facebook featuring the full cast list of the upcoming Lion King remake, and yes, she’s in it.
Disney’s remake of The Lion King, set to be released in 2019, will be a CG-animated musical drama. And the now confirmed all-star cast definitely impresses.
Donald Glover will be voicing Simba, an absolute perfect choice, while James Earl Jones returns for Mufasa. It really wouldn’t feel right if it was anyone else. And as for Beyoncé? She’ll be voicing Nala, and there’s no question that she’s going to bring so much strength to the already fantastic character.
Other big names to look out for are Seth Rogan as Pumba and Billy Eichner as Timon. John Oliver will be voicing the hilariously nervous Zazu while John Kani will voice Rafiki.
Alfre Woodard will be voicing Sarabi, a massive change from one of her more recent characters, the villainous Mariah Dillard in Luke Cage. And Chiwetel Ejiofor will be taking on our ultimate villain – Scar. The film will be directed by Jon Favreau, who also successfully helmed the remake of The Jungle Book last year. With this talented team, The Lion King is sure to be added to the growing list of successful Disney remakes.
